Once the strong God of the Hearth, Besa is now the darkest of the Dark Gods. His power extends into the darkest corners of sexuality and pleasure, twisting even the innocent to his designs. The Servants of Besa are among the most despised of all the servants of Darkness, precisely because they offer something that few can refuse.
Besa himself was tempted by the Elder Goddess Istan-Ofalan, Mistress of Torment and Desire. It is her dark hand that lies on his heart, and her 'pleasures' that have corrupted his spirit. He obeys her slightest whim, to the determent of the entire Pattern.
This God spends much of this time corrupting people at all levels of society. He seems to delight in bringing down people who are of high moral standing, and in corrupting the vows of marriage. Anything wholesome or true is subject to his hatred.
Besa is allied with Sember and Sortanzarbanku, the Lords of Black Magic and Lies respectively. The three often work together to pave the way for the coming of the Elder Gods.
Besa is also known to have occasional dealings with Nabor, the God of Illusions, although those have fallen off in recent years. Nabor does not approve of the path that Besa has chosen for himself.
The Servants of Istan-Ofalan will act to support Besa when they can, but not to the detriment of their Mistresses plans.
The Cults of Besa are wide spread and numerous, more so that most beings realize. If they were organized beyond the level of individual cells they would represent a considerable threat to the civilized world. Fortunately, each cult is dedicated to the pleasure of its members, not the overthrow of the various forces of light.
Almost every city, town, or village in the world has at least one worshiper of Besa in it. Most cities have active cults, lead by one or more of Besa's priests. The largest cities (Itmas, Narbar, Peer, Yelo, etc.) have several such cults, each unaware of the others.
Erin is the bitter enemy of Besa, and the two fight whenever they can. There is a state of open warfare between the twos servants, which both Gods actively support.
Three of the Gods (Ferin, Vlad-Tagor, and Lagin) are actively involved in a quest to restore Besa to his former status as God of the Hearth. He has no desire to be restored, finding great joy in his current role. His servants are under orders to corrupt the other's followers at every chance, and to kill them when they cannot turn them.
Besa is served, willingly and unwillingly, by thousands of people and spirits. The pleasure that he offers is addictive, and many of his so-called 'servants' are slaves to that addiction. They would resist if they could, but cannot seem to find the strength of will required.
Although his mortal minions are legion, Besa has trouble coordinating them. Most of his most 'loyal' followers are dedicated to their own pleasure, not the goals of their master. He sympathizes with their desires, having inspired them in the first place.
The Priests of Besa are individuals who have chosen to sacrifice their independence of thought and action in return for unending pleasure. They care for nothing but their own pleasure, and the things that impact upon it. A priest of Besa tends to regard other beings as tools for achieving his pleasures, be they sexual or otherwise.
All Priests of Besa are required to have Seduction, Poison, Alchemy, and Traps as Vocational Skills.
As the Servants of Besa grow in power, they gain the following abilities:
Over time, Besa grants his Priests the following unique gifts:
